It is official. Superstar point guard Kyrie Irving is making his long-awaited return to the court in this game against his former team. Kevin Durant and James Harden have instantly clicked and the Brooklyn Nets look unstoppable. While most of the public think the addition of Irving will hurt this team, I think the opposite. Head coach Steve Nash will be able to make sure Irving gets a lot of touches with Durant and Harden on the bench. The Cleveland Cavaliers are still dealing with a bunch of injuries to their top players. These injuries include their two starting guards, Collin Sexton and Darius Garland. That is a big factor for their struggles in the last seven games. They are 2-5 straight up and against the spread in those seven games.
These teams seem to be destined for different situations by the end of the season so it’ll be interesting to see how they play. Let’s take a deeper dive into this game to figure out where we should be placing our bet on for this one.
Brooklyn has been on a roll and is getting an All-Pro guard back in Kyrie Irving most likely for this game. Cleveland can protect the rim but there aren’t many teams that can defend both James Harden and Kevin Durant. I expect Andre Drummond to feast on the boards and have another big game as DeAndre Jordan isn’t known as a defensive wizard at this point of his career.
Cleveland started strong but injuries in recent games have thinned their rotation out somewhat and left them missing some key personnel. That’s not the kind of problem you want to have when you’re facing a Brooklyn team that is loaded with talent and who has won four straight games. It’s unclear as to whether Irving will make his return for this one or not but the fact remains that the Harden/Durant duo has been dangerous even without him in the mix.
The Cavaliers don’t have the weapons to contend with a Brooklyn team that is third in the league in scoring offense, even with Sexton and Garland in the mix. Look for Brooklyn to get the victory here to run their win streak to five.Go with the Nets to be able to take control of this game and cover the spread on the road here.
