NBA: Portland Trail Blazers @ Memphis Grizzlies, Play off
- Title : NBA: Portland Trail Blazers @ Memphis Grizzlies, Play off
The eight seeding games conclude today, and NBA fans were supposed to be getting ready for the playoffs to begin. Not so fast though. Under the new playoff format for this year, if the eighth and ninth place teams are within four games of one another, they would play a play-in game to see who would take on the Los Angeles Lakers. That proved to be the case as the eighth-place Portland Trail Blazers will play “host” to the ninth-place Memphis Grizzlies. The Grizzlies simply don't score enough to keep up with Portland. The Blazers have led the NBA in offensive efficiency in the bubble, averaging 122.5 points per 100 possessions. Memphis has been 18th (out of 22)
Portland has demonstrated they are already playoff ready, earning three straight victories by a combined total of seven points. They defeated Philadelphia on Sunday 124-121 before defeating Dallas on Tuesday, 134-131. This team has ice in their veins and really understands what it takes to win close contests, a trademark of the playoffs.
IF their match up on July 31 is any indication, this should be quit a game. However freinds. that has not been standard. Only once in the prior seven games did the winning team win by less than seven points, and then we have go back to 2018.
In addiction an interesting stat between these 2 is that the favorite has won and cover the spread in ALL but one of the last seven games. The one on that record is when Memphis was underdog with spread for 5,5 but defeated Portland with 120-111.
Despite this game one instance, the thrue is that the favorite wins between these 2 teams. Oddsmaker understand who is the better team is, and Portland has clearly shows that since the NBA resumed.
My prediction will be under 234,5 points today. IF we all look back at the last 10 contests, both of these teams have gone under this line in 8 av those 10 games. If we consider that one of this 2 times that the went over was the overtime contest in july.
Memphis has also gone under in 16 of their last 21 games and they have gone under in four straight when playong on only one days rest. There is a lot at stake in a contest like this. I am pretty sure this game cover the spread on under 234,5 points today
My prediction: Under 234,5 points
