Prediction: Lazio - Torino
- Title : Prediction: Lazio - Torino
Lazio have all the margins on their side when they host a Corona-stricken Torino at home at the Stadio Olimpico in the Italian Serie A. Torino have managed not to lose in the last six league games - which can be seen as an excellent result, even if four of these matches have ended in a draw. Sadly for Torino, the squad has been hit by Corona where seven players are away for this match.
The missing players are too many and too difficult for Torino to have a sensible chance to score against a Champions League team that parks in seventh place in the table and has a fantastic home form. This meeting, Lazio will be able to win with big numbers.
Lazio have played well for a long time - apart from recent matches. There, however, the opposition has been tough. First, they hosted the reigning Champions League champions Bayern Munich in the round of 16, where it was a 1 - 4 loss. Then there was also a loss away against Bologna in the league, which had also played well before that. Still, Lazio has a very strong squad that will be able to bounce back. At home, Lazio have six straight victories in the league and I can not see Torino break this winning streak. After crossing in five straight league matches against Genoa, Atalanta, Fiorentina, Benevento and Spezia, Torino managed to take an important three-pointer in the bottom battle against rival Cagliari. Torino thus got some breathing space as they climbed and are five points above the relegation zone. Last week, however, a gloomy message came when the club confirmed that they had been hit hard by Covid 19 on as many as seven players - of which four were key players. Preparations for this match have thus suffered greatly.
Torino can do without bench players Daniele Baselli and Alessandro Buongiorno, as well as full-back Nicola Murru, who has usually jumped in and played a total of 14 of 23 matches. It will be worse without the key players Karol Linetty in the central midfield, the brass Bremer who plays midfielder and has netted four times and colleague Wilfried Singo in defense and worst of all team captain Andrea Belotti, who has netted eleven times and accounted for four assists and is involved in all of Torino's offensive successes. In my opinion, Lazio should take great advantage of Torino's corona situation, as they have many key players away. As Lazio also has a good home form and is fighting for Champions League places this season, it takes a victory to climb the table.
My bet on todays game will be Lazio -1 (Asian lines) and 1.73 odds seems too good considering all the missing players in Torino.
