Borussia Dortmund has taken the lead in preliminary group F. At the Belgian champions, BVB scored a 3-0 away win with a clear performance and was able to save their energy for the top Bundesliga game on Saturday early on.

First Hazard, then Haaland: BVB sets the course early

Against the brave Belgians, BVB's victory was only briefly in danger at the beginning: Hazard was right after a failed header defense and blocked Lang's conclusion (5th), Dennis just missed a header from Clinton (11th). With the first opportunity of their own, Dortmund then promptly took the lead - even if the Bruges goalkeeper played a decisive role: Mignolet misjudged a Delaney cross, so that Hazard behind it hit the BVB lead with a direct decrease (14th).

With this goal, the game clearly tipped in the direction of Dortmund, who set the course for victory only a short time later: Witsel headed the ball after a corner into the six-yard area, where Haaland initially failed from a short distance to Mignolet, but then loosely to 2-0 for BVB (18th).

Efficient first round: Borussia Dortmund were able to celebrate three goals in the first 45 minutes. imago images

Despite the double strike, Bruges continued to play cheerfully forward and had a good opportunity through Vormer, Bürki parried the captain's flick (23). However, the Belgians always gave the Dortmunders space due to their offensive orientation - and they took advantage of it ice cold. First, Haaland failed with a low shot at Mignolet (30th), a few moments later the Norwegian cheered for the second time: Dahoud lifted the ball perfectly into the penalty area on the run-in Meunier, whose cross pass Haaland only had to push over the line - a great move and already the 14th goal in the eleventh Champions League game for BVB-Knipser (32nd).

Borussia was not as overwhelmingly superior in the first 45 minutes as the result put it, but the team was much clearer. Nevertheless, Bruges sold a little below value, especially since Sobol missed another opportunity to make it 3-1 (36th).

Running out after the break: BVB in energy-saving mode

With the high break in the back, BVB switched to administrative mode early on - also because Bruges' commitment decreased a little compared to the first round. The hosts kept coming to deals like Dennis (56th), Kossounou (57th) and Vormer (65th) or Schrijvers (86th), but the Favre-Elf never had to fear anymore. Dortmund had relatively few difficulties defending the Belgians' efforts, but did little themselves towards goal number four. At the only presentable opportunity of the second half, Hazard narrowly missed a Haaland cross (76th).
